Are we there yet?

It seems as though the days can't go by quickly enough. Surely it starts soon, doesn't it? Well... yeah... but "soon" is a rather relative measure of time.

So whilst all of you are out there with your noses pressed against your monitors trying to get a better look, we are back here with fingers flying, elbows flapping, and other bodily parts doing things probably best not described, rest assured that your applications are all being processed as quickly as possible. I know it is always unnerving to have a pending item, that you think should have been addressed by now, and it's not, and what is taking those darned people so long to take care of this, don't-they-know-I'm-waiting-PATIENTLY!

Well. Yes. Yes we do.

And we appreciate it.

We have processed between 50 and 60 applications thus far of the half million or so received. OK, maybe not a half million, but that inbox sure looks awfully full. As Theresa mentioned in her last post, if you haven't heard back (or see your team name posted on the left) by February 10th or so, please get in touch. Otherwise, please believe that your application is in the que and will be addressed as we get to it.

Oh, and BOLO (be on the lookout) for a little ADSR surprise. (I just didn't say that out loud, did I?)

The Registrations are Flooding in!

I probably didn't plan this very well, but then when I decided to make January 20 the official date to start accepting team registrations, I probably didn't realize the Chargers would still be in the playoffs. So I've been off watching football games all day and I have over 133 e-mails in my in box!

So, rest assured, if you sent an application, I probably got it. But you may not get a confirmation from me for awhile. If you don't get a confirmation from me by February 10, by all means, start bugging me. Otherwise, assume you'll be hearing from me in the coming days or weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience!

Season 3 Rules

Welcome to Season 3 of The Amazing Digi Scrapping Race!

At NDISB, we've come up with a cool internet digital scrapping game that will mirror the excitement of the TV reality show "The Amazing Race." Teams of two will traverse the digital scrapping world, site by site, completing challenges and collecting prizes along the way.

Everyone who completes the week's challenges in the allotted time frame will move on to the next week, where they can collect even MORE prizes! And at the end of the race, everyone who has travelled around the digiworld and completed each and every challenge will be entered into a drawing for the GRAND prize!

REGISTRATION:

Team registration begins on Sunday, January 20. So the first thing you have to do is find yourself a partner! Once you've done that, please send ONE email per team to RaceHost@ndisb.com with the following information:

Your Team Name:

Racer 1 Name:
Racer 1 Email:
Racer 1 NDISB gallery*:
Racer 1 NDISB Forum User name**:

Racer 2 Name:
Racer 2 Email:
Racer 2 NDISB gallery*:
Racer 2 NDISB Forum User name**:

OPTIONAL:
A team blinkie for the blog
A link to your team’s blog, if you have one

OFFICIAL GALLERY:

*You may upload to as many galleries as you like, but we need a link to your NDISB gallery. If you don’t have a gallery at NDISB yet, you will need to set one up. This is the one gallery where you will be sure to upload all of your challenge layouts so we can check to make sure you qualify for the next round.

By having a gallery at NDISB, we ensure two things. One, you have a single location where ALL of the race layouts will be posted for everyone to see. Two, if we don’t get your e-mail for whatever reason, we can still verify that your layout was posted by the deadline. Last season, we had a number of sites down for maintenance, or other issues which prevented us from verifying layouts in time. This should alleviate that.

Each challenge will have its own sub-gallery at NDISB. You will upload your challenge layouts to the corresponding weekly challenge gallery. By default, they will also show in your member gallery. You may also upload any other layouts you wish directly to your member gallery.

GRAND PRIZE:

At the end of Season 2, we posted a poll regarding the Grand Prize. By overwhelming majority, we will have a Grand Prize winning team as well as two runners up. The Grand Prize pool will be split with 50% going to the Grand Prize team and 25% each to the two runners up teams.

KICK-OFF CHAT:

We will be kicking off Season 3 with a fun chat on Friday, February 22 at 10:00 PM EST in the NDISB chat room. Everyone in attendance will receive a free mini kit; stay tuned to this blog for a preview.

FIRST CHALLENGE:

The first challenge will be posted on Sunday, February 24. A link to the challenge will be posted on the blog as soon as it is received by the Race Host.

SUBSEQUENT CHALLENGES:

Subsequent challenges will be posted each Sunday and Tuesday, and both must be completed by midnight Eastern the following Sunday to qualify to continue in the Race.

QUALIFICATION:

A project is considered complete when:

1. The project(s) have been completed according to the challenge rules,

2. The project(s) are posted to each Racer’s main gallery, and

3. ONE email per team is sent containing direct links to the project(s) to RaceHost@NDISB.com.

Everyone who has completed Week One will qualify to continue racing during Week Two, and the fun begins all over again. THERE IS NO JUDGING, AND THE ONLY WAY TO BE ELIMINATED IS TO FAIL TO COMPLETE THE WEEK'S CHALLENGES.

CHALLENGE PRIZES:

Each time you complete a challenge you will receive a prize from the host site. You may receive a direct link, or you may receive a coupon code. Prizes and delivery of said prizes are at the discretion of the site host only. The Race Host has no control over what the prizes will be or how the site host will choose to deliver them. You will never be required to sign up for newsletters, or purchase anything in order to participate in the Race. You may, however, be required to register in a site’s store in order to redeem a coupon.

**Due to issues with the Yahoo Group we used last time for prize code distribution, for Season 3, we will have a hidden forum for posting of prize codes, download links, etc. When you register, you will need to send your NDISB Forum User name so we can add you to the hidden forum.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your application to participate in The Amazing Digi Scrapping Race constitutes an agreement that any prizes or codes obtained in the course of the Race are NOT to be distributed by any means. Terms of use in each prize MUST be honored by all Racers. Failure to comply will result in dismissal from the Race and your application for future Races will be denied. Digital piracy will not be tolerated.

CONTINUING ON SOLO:

If for some reason during the course of the Race your partner cannot continue, you have two options:

  1. Continue the race solo, completing the challenges alone and collecting the weekly prizes, but you are then ineligible for the Grand Prize drawing, or

  2. Find another partner who has also been displaced, but has not yet been disqualified. In this way, you are both still eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. For example, Team A has player 1 drop out due to unexpected illness and Team B has player 2 drop out due to computer hard drive crash. The remaining players from Teams A and B can form Team C and continue to race and be fully eligible.

So are you ready? If so, get those applications to me starting Sunday, January 20. The deadline to register is midnight Pacific Standard Time Friday, February 15 .Then start toning up and working on your endurance...you're going to need all the scrapping strength and mojo you can get if you want to win!

And a Few Answers at Least

Here are some answers to some recent questions that have been posted here and/or e-mailed to me:

Q) Is a partner required to plan and/or win?

A) Yes, a partner is required to register. But you can easily find a partner by just asking. There are a lot of people in the same position; scrappers without partners. Many new friendships have been formed because two strangers partnered up during Season 1 or Season 2.

That said, if your partner has to bow out at some point during the race, you may continue on by yourself and collect the weekly prizes, but you will no longer be eligible for the grand prize.

Q) T/E where is our blinkie??? We wanted to see it posted FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
A) Look to your left.

Q) I have never done this...can I play or do you have to have achieved something special?
A) Anyone can participate. No special skills are needed. You will not need to purchase anything along the way and are free to scrap in any style you choose. The only real requirements are to have a partner and have FUN!

Q) When will registrations begin?
A) We will begin taking registrations starting on Sunday, January 20

Q) When will the race begin?
A) The first challenge will be posted on Sunday, February 22, 2008.

Q) Which sites will be hosting challenges?
A) Ha! You will have to wait and see! We'll be posting that information very soon, so keep your eyes on the blog.

Questions?

You have questions? We have answers!

Of course, they are probably not the answers that you were hoping for!

The all new, fantabulous, gotta-do-it-or-get-left-behind Season 3 of the ADSR is upon us. We'll have the rules up soon, and you can check out the newly created Season 3 forum here. Need a partner? Post in the "I need a partner!" thread. Wanna smack-talk the competition? (In a friendly, "Can't we all just get along?" way?) Create your own thread. Heck, create your own blog. Millions do it every day! You can too! (Okay... maybe not millions. But you get the idea... :) )

Never done it before? That's okay. Find a partner that's never done it before either and do it like it's never been done before!

And if you really do have a question, post it in the (wait for it...)

"I have a question" thread!

Good luck to all, and may the mojo be with you!
